1 November Pass Canyon Ride13 people joined us for our last organized trail ride of the year. We went up Pass Canyon, just east of the town of Pine Canyon. we missed the prime fall colors by a few weeks, but still had a beautiful ride. For most of us, it was our first ride up the canyon and we had no idea that such a rugged and beautiful place was so close.
You park down on the flats and have a short (or long, depending on where you park) ride to the mouth of the canyon.
You follow a road that goes up as far as an old mine.
It is a very rocky canyon and just awesome with how rugged it is.
Lots of great places for pictures. This is me on Rosie.
It was a great day...everyone was happy. My best friend Judi
Here is a pretty shot of some of the group, Judi, Barry, Connie, Gary, Linda, George and Bonnie
Another good friend Betty and her "Paso Grin"
Connie, Gary, and Linda leading. You get an idea of the color - and the color we missed by not doing this ride a few weeks ago.
Lunch break. You can see how high we've come. That is Tooele City at the bottom of the canyon.
The group split after lunch. Some went on and I'll have to let them add to their part of the journey.
Coming down the canyon you get some views you missed going up the canyon.
And more fall foliage
This was the hardest picture to take because the sun was behind this ridge both going and coming. But it is such a rugged and beautiful ridge. This picture does not do it justice.
This is a side canyon. A good place to be if you are a mountain goat.
Annette, Betty, and Judi heading back down on the flats to the trailers. We ran into a herd of about 8 deer near here.
And finally, a view of the Great Salt Lake from here. The Island in the middle is Stansbury Island. To the left of it is the Lakeside range, and to the left of them is the north end of the Stansbury range. On a clear day you can see over 100 miles away.
